Great progress has been made at the UNIS Compliance Stadium throughout the season. On the pitch, it has been quite an unexpected yet incredible journey for Warrington Town. Sitting at a very respectable 12th place in their first ever season at Step 2 in the National League system, earning 61 points in 41 games and sitting 3 points off of the play-offs. The pre-season target of staying up on the pitch is all but complete, however another goal was included.

Chairman and owner of the club Toby Macormac also stated that Town needed to stay in the league off the pitch, by completing stadium renovations that would be in line with NLN guidelines. These renovations would include the addition of metal rails at standing areas around the pitch, as well as the extension of hardstanding for fans to view the games. The experience for away fans had to be vastly improved also, with The Yellows having to construct a new seated stand, a new terraced stand as well as food and beverage facilities and toilets. This section would also be required to be segregated for certain games with strong away travel. The current turnstiles would become away turnstiles and new home turnstiles were to also be installed, with several plaques to be placed upon it with the names of Yellows supporters who donated a specific amount of money through the groundfunder.

The groundfunder proved to be a massively successful inclusion from Town, who have raised just under £25,000 pounds for the stadium. Fans have been crucial to the project with money being raised through bucket collections at games, raffles and a huge 40 mile ultra walk where fans raised over £10,000. Volunteering was also key, with a large group of fans coming to Cantilever to move the parts for the new seated stand over to the Walsh Lane end for construction. Community has and continues to play a massive part for Warrington Town this season.

The deadline was arriving though as on the 29th March, renovations were expected to be finished by the National League North. Having the majority of the work completed and with other work not being completed due to weather and a nation wide shortage of materials, Town have been granted an extension on their stadium work now at the 30th April. Great confidence is around the extension as work is expected to be completed ahead of time, with the terraced stand and new turnstiles the only things left to be added to the ground.

It has been an incredible journey for us yellows. Although the dreaded relegation without the chance of promotion next season still looms over the shoulders of everyone around the club, the hope and confidence of the renovations being completed is certainly holding that threat back and fans may start to look forward to another season in the National League North.
