As we enter the new year, the dreaded factor that every Yellows fan has feared, is starting to arise. At the start of the season Warrington Town needed to renovate the UNIS Compliance stadium to meet National League North guidelines, after their promotion from the Northern Premier League. They were given till March 2024 to complete the renovations, otherwise they would face automatic relegation without the possibility of being promoted next season.
Now we are in January 2024, a meagre three months away from the deadline, and renovations are beginning to occur at the ground to ensure immediate safety from relegation off the pitch. If the Yellows were unable to complete the renovations, it would be a great shame to the town and the club as they currently sit in thirteenth, following ten wins, seven draws and nine losses, eleven points above the relegation zone.

Warrington's performances have been way above par this season. Only two home losses since August and even in defeat, playing their hearts out and proving to the league why they belong in the division. The yellows were tipped to finish rock bottom of the league and have beaten all the odds so far and do not look like slowing down with marquee signing Andre Wisdom extending his stay in early December (to at least the end of the season) and goalkeeper Danny Atherton chipping in with two goals this season. Their fight, spirit and quality has been rewarded as crowds get bigger every week to see the Yellows play their game. A sell out on New Year's Day was incredible to see and away followings have been stellar with nearly 400-500 fans travelling to the likes of Chester, Scunthorpe and Southport. We all hope that the stadium renovations will be a much deserved reward for everyone at the club as everyone around the club deserves to see their team play in this league for the foreseeable future.
Fans have been crucial to gaining support for the club's finances and the stadium renovations. When news broke about the renovations, a goal of £80,000 was set for yellows fans to donate to. At the time of writing this, £18,932 pounds has been donated to try and keep the town in the National League North. Supporters have had bucket collections and raffles for signed memorabilia at games to try and raise any amount of money that could go to the renovations. The club gives fans access to donate online, with certain donations getting you certain things. These include donating £50+ entering you into a draw for 2x hospitality tickets and £100+ getting you a commemorative plaque on the side of the new turnstiles. Services have been offered with tradesmen offering their skills to the club to save costs of the renovations. Now more than ever, we can see the club and the fans together and a real bond has been created.
So as we welcome the new year we all begin on the edge of our seats. Hoping and waiting for these renovations to be complete so our club remains where it belongs. We have proven that we're not here for the fun of it, we are here to fight and to show the league who we are and why we are in this division. Come on, you yellows!
