So Needham Market went... awful. The over 400 mile round trip resulted in defeat for the Yellows after the hosts slotted two penalties home at the end of both halves as Elliot Morris' first goal wasn't enough to take any points back to Warrington.
Town's longest away day this season saw the team travel the night before, to be better prepared for the relegation 6 pointer that lay ahead. A good following came with Town, with several fans travelling the night before and on the day. The travelling Town were in good spirits going into the game as a point in the previous game against Farsley gave us a chance at 4 points from 6 against two big relegation rivals.
The game started as what you would expect from two teams right up against the wall. Nothing major came as Morris did hit the crossbar before Clarke's misjudged tackle gave Needham a penalty. Ingram smashed it into the bottom corner as the hosts led by a single goal going into the break. Town came out at half time well though and found an equaliser through a huge ball up that fell into the path of Elliot Morris, who took his chance and scored his first goal for Warrington Town. Town were on the front foot as the game continued on with Needham keeper, Josh Blunkell, kept a number of top saves to keep his side in the game. It all fell apart at the end for Town though, as a handball from Ollie Southern gave Needham another penalty and a chance to take three points. Chambers slotted it in and won the game for Needham Market in a massive blow for Warrington as they fell to 22nd in the league and entered the bottom four for the first time this season.
Overall, the game had a lot of positives and maybe on another day we would have won that game but with the form we are in and the mistakes we're making, it felt inevitable that Town would walk away empty handed. The bright spot this week is the loan signing of Aaron James from League 1 side, Wrexham! The young Welshman comes highly rated from the Hollywood owned side with three appearances made and 1 goal being scored from centre back. His arrival comes at a time where Peter Clarke has joined Evan Gumbs and Andy White on the sideline. James' arrival isn't expected to be the only made with new signings looking to be brought in before Saturday's game against Scunthorpe United. Town still have 51 points to play for and Paul Carden has stated that the towel will not be thrown in. Hopefully, there is belief in the dressing room that things will turn around, and they can show the fans why they should believe it too.
